UCP’s Heroes Astride program, located in Grass Valley, CA, works with horses to help our disabled servicemen and women with the tools to recover from physical and emotional trauma. Heroes Astride is an extension of our Saddle Pals program, where our instructors work with UCP’s horses to help people with disabilities develop more control over their bodies, minds, and emotions and heal from trauma.
The most common diagnosis of our military personnel is Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. Unlike traditional approaches, horsemanship activities are enjoyable, and family and community members can join in and participate in the process.
