Medical Benefits
About WHA Western Health Advantage
WHA is a nonprofit company serving the Sacramento community, utilizing UC Davis Hospital and Medical Group, Mercy Hospitals and Medical Group and Hill Physicians Medical Group.
UCP offers three medical plans through WHA. A Base Plan, a Buy-Up Plan and a High Deductible Plan; allowing team members to choose the plan that works best for them and their families.
Dental Benefits
About Premier Access
UCP offers two dental plan options to its employees: A Base plan, which has comprehensive benefits availed with three tiers of coverage; and the Buy-up plan, which also has three levels of care, but elevates the level of payment, pier tier.
Three Choices
With Premier Access, you may elect to receive care within three tiers:
- The Premier Choice network, wherein the providers are actual partners with the plan and working from within Premiers own facilities
- The Preferred Provider Network, using dentists within their own offices at significant discount off of retail charges
- Care outside of Premier outside providers. This option provides freedom of choice, but expect to have a higher out-of-pocket expense after the plan pays for benefits.
Vision Plan
About Medical Eye Services (MES)
Med provides comprehensive vision care through a wide network of providers. No claim forms or member cards are needed, just use your social security number to access your coverage.
UCP provides free vision care to its eligible team members. Coverage for dependents may also be purchased for a low premium charge.
Life Insurance
UCP provides a Group Term Life insurance policy, allowing coverage of flat $10,000 and $10,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment.
Long Term Disability Insurance
Under UNUM, UCP provides for eligible team members, a Long Term Disability policy, to provide income to you if you are unable to work due to illness or injury.
If you have been certified as being disabled, our plan will pay to you:
- 60% of your pre-disability monthly earnings
- After a 90 day waiting period

Voluntary Insurance Plans
Many people would like to upgrade or add to their employee benefits. Often, certain insurances are either difficult to purchase, hard to find, or are simply inconvenient. Employees can take advantage of limited guarantee-issue, discount pricing, and unique product offerings.
403(b) Retirement Plan
UCP provides a retirement savings plan option through The Principal Financial Group. By enrolling and making a contribution each pay day, UCP will match, dollar for dollar up to your 3% contribution; if you contribute 4%, UCP will mate 3.5%, and if you contribution 5%, UCP will match 4%.
This is a great opportunity to easily start saving for your retirement. You will be amazed at how fast your balance will grow over time.
