At UCP, our Board Members all have unique reasons for serving the organization. Some have family members with disabilities and have seen firsthand the difference UCP program and services can make in the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families.
Roy was born in 1924 with cerebral palsy, and raised in the small town of Perth, North Dakota. He could walk but needed assistance from his brother and sister on snowy days. His sister (my mother) was devastated at 8 years old when hearing a neighbor say “people like that don’t live very long.”
PODCAST: Lighting the Candle of Hope
The first ever podcast on UCP services tells the story of a family of 6 with two children having developmental disabilities; One with Downs Syndrome and the other on the Autism scale. The need for respite, taking a break, is how the story unfolds as they describe their situation and the blessing the service has provided. Harold and Mari have a beautiful story with wonderful relief that the UCP respite program has provided.
